fancy fall buttons, all the way down
A little project I have been meaning to photograph. I thrifted a gently worn long (and very cozy!) coat with many, many buttons (which I covered in various 40’s calicos and plaids from my snippet stash). All in yummy mocha latte shades of brown and pumpkin-y orange.
Oh my gosh, is it November already? Happy November!!
Favorites
The fall makes my eyes wander, making a wish list of pretty, earthy textured things (and in colors I normally wear all year).
This sweet nubby brown capelet by Deciduous Soul.
I am amazed by Lady Lavona’s shop. She sells such strange things. I am in love with this antique sterling silver neck piece, which has an “S” engraved upon it too. There’s a little apothecary bottle hanging from it which really opens.
The texture organic forms and colors in Irregular Expressions work are so perfect.
These slipper boots are hand-knit and look so warm! They have felted fern leaf details, swoon! By Felted Finery.
I am obsessed with the vintage section on Etsy. It’s funny to come across a vintage skirt I already have! I love this skirt so much I should buy a duplicate, but it’s up for grabs! I think it’s the piece of clothing I have owned the longest (bought it maybe 9 years ago at a thrift shop) and its so super soft and warm! Patchwork velveteen on an a-line, in Ruby Bandicoot’s Shop:
I saw this ring featured on the Etsy homepage and I can’t get it out of my mind! Silvery birch-bark for your fingers by E S Designs. Her organic-shaped silvery jewelry is so inspiring.
A autumn-y inspired wool felt scarf to wrap around one’s chilly neck by Purl Hand Knits.
And last but not least, the best shoes on Etsy, by Kalia Footwear.
Its raining here and so cold (and very cozy) I think I’ll light some candles. Have good weekends, all!
September! Tights and Books!
Today I welcomed September with open arms! Fall is a time when I feel the most creatively charged and over-the-top inspired. So many plans for fall… apple picking and pumpkin carving, long walks in the golden sun through the woods, cozying up and drinking hot tea with honey to name a few. Today I took out my fall-ish clothes, velveteen skirts, little jackets and TIGHTS! Yes, I have huge collection of tights, printed and brightly colored, and nothing says tights like September. And October, November, and December for that matter!
And books! Books are for fall too. I think I might reread some of my favorites. Last week we were roaming around a really neat bookstore and I spotted this little gem on top of one of the book shelves in the children’s section. It has a new home with me now…
It’s Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and the cover delights me to pieces! I’ve never seen this version before (the inside is a little brittle so no peeking around in there).
So the happiest of September’s to everyone, and thanks for putting up with my little tight obsession (there’s more photos but I don’t want to be a bore). And if anyone knows a great tight site online, please let me know so I can feed the obsession even more.
lets fast forward to fall, shall we?
Always looking forward to the cooling down of the fall this time of the year (and it’s a couple of months away but its fun to imagine!). It’s sweltering hot here but I have been dreaming of wool hats for the cool weather and crunchy leaves! In preparation I bought this cozy red wool hat from Little Houses and oh, how I am oogling over this coat too! The Sawdust Coat and the Quito Coat are beauties as well.
ok now, back to summer.
