in my little sketchbook…
A moleskine sketch and new brushes for working on detail in my sketchbook. I am in awe of the blue! Plus some charming patterned origami paper for making little paper swans and such…
oh, and I am traveling up to Boston and Salem in a few weeks! My longing for a little historic sea town has inspired this sketchy painting…
a little painting, melting snow and skeleton keys
Amongst my pile antique books I have one titled “Flowering Wilderness”. The cover is a dusty faded violet. Although unread, these two words have brought me much inspiration in the past few weeks. I have daydreams of little cabins in the woods and fields of wildflowers. Hence a small 6″ by 6″ acrylic painting on canvas…
When I was walking in the woods I found a small piece of pink rick-rack laying in the snow.
Finding this tiny treasure prompted me to daydream of other items I would love to find. As the snow melted treasures surfaced, dropped over the long cold winter. Skeleton keys, blackbird feathers and golden charms. What treasures do you wish to find in the snow?

spring sweet spring
Happy Spring all! So far I have been celebrating with the spring sunshine…
Ate a box of chocolates and then collected green tidbits from around my studio. It makes a lovely little shadow box, yes?
I rearranged my spring alter table with greens, yellows and browns. I put a little nest under my cloche bell jar and displayed some treasures around. On the table sits a little porcelaine bell to chime in the season. The lady holds the perfect little seedling in her arms. Small paper parasols grace my table, the kind that come in yummy pina coladas. Recently I have had a curiosity to flip through vintage hardcover novels at old lady thrift shops. I must admit, my curiosity has turned into a collection. I unpacked my spring clothes and shopped for a few new things. I particularly love this blouse, with its green spots and vintage-inspired buttons. The giant dots make me thirst for lemony-lime gumballs.

Much more below!
Spring alter table
She’s a bell that chimes so sweet…
Candle light and daylight…
Under my cloche…
I bought this bunny for a quarter! He is quite happy on my shelf.
Picnic season is upon us. For now, chocolate yummies…
There is a swamp behind where I live that is a sweltering garden to skunk weed. For now, thousands of small yellow flowers bloom in the waters.
I forgot how much spring renews and reinspires me. I saw a couple picnicking atop a patchwork quilt in a meadow today. The scene gave me a wonderful taste of the warm weather ahead. Tell me, what would you pack in YOUR picnic lunch?

tidbits of cheer on this snowy march day
Items of cheer:
tiny paper parasols in the brightest of colors, elementary school writing paper, a giant blackbird feather I found on a woodland path, vintage faded novel book covers, little ceramic japanese dolls and a small glass bell.
I just updated my flickr with lots! trying to catch up, check it out…

It has been snowing all day and I am in need of a cheering up! I put together a grouping of magical little items that bring me oh-so-much cheer. I know that tomorrow is Saint Patty’s days and I should be thinking green but RED is the color I am thinking about as of late. I must be in complete denial of the weather becasue today I started to sort through my spring clothes, trying to decide which I should take out!
I think I shall plant a few minaiture hens and chicks in the teapot, as it is missing a lid.
Thanks to all for your kind compliments on my last post! I have been putting all my heart into my art and reading so much positivity about my work encourages me to keep it up. You are all such beautiful people.

finished painting and a joyous little find
I absolutely love this one! And yes…this painting will soon be available in prints. Will post info soon!
I recently thrifted a little flute girl. Three white doves sit on a twig to her left. This little statue inspired my new initial icon. A much bigger photo of my musical box girl resides on my flickr:

I hope everyone is finally feeling spring! My favorite spring flower is dogwood. Which is yours?

three for now
Ships and little forest cottages…tea cups and birch trees. My paint brush can not keep up with the little scenes in my mind these days. I am hoping that the spring air will bring as much joy as painting these has brought. I am ready for warmer weather and long walks in the woods. I am ready for the first day of spring. Took a long run today, welcoming springs sunshine. Only a tiny bit left of winter, yay!
Three paintings, acrylic on canvas. When I am finished prints will be available. The second vignette is a detail from the middle painting. Many more to come!
